I love making my own mincemeat, it’s really easy. The great thing about this recipe is that I can make it and use it on the same day, there is no waiting around for it to mature. I also love all the smells from making my own mincemeat, when I’m finished my house smells like Christmas. The good thing about this recipe is you can adapt to your taste preference.

Mincemeat – Mince Pie Filling

This recipe is really simple, there is only 1 step.
1 Bramley Apple – Grated including the peel
1 Orange – Grated Zest and Juice
1 Lemon – Grated zest and Juice
200g of Mixed Fruit
50g of Dates (Alternative Figs)
25g of Goji Berries (Alternative Cherries or cranberries)
60g of Dark Muscovado Sugar
2 Tsp of Mixed Spice
1 Tsp of Ground Cinnamon
1/4 Tsp of Nutmeg (Alternative Ginger)
80ml of Apple Juice
- Put all your ingredients into a heavy-based saucepan and place it on your hob on medium heat for around 45 minutes. Ensuring to give a good stir every now and again. You are looking for the mixture to go sticky.
